This Queensland Gallery of Modern Art building was designed by Architectus expertise in the areas of education, public buildings, retail, commercial, industrial, residential, aviation and transport, sustainable design and hotels. This gallery of modern art building has 25,635 square feet of space in a lightweight structure and open approach, a riverside pavilion with two large levels of exhibition space, two cinemas, education, restaurant and cafe promenade. It was completed in 2006 and organized into flexible, adaptive rooms, house changing exhibitions and programs.

The urban concept for the gallery of the city recognizes grid and ash from fuel-street of the historic mill, keep the river terminal for the West End. The new gallery is the largest cultural project in the recent history of Queensland to be implemented. The resulting building is a landmark on the skyline of Brisbane. The new building more than doubles the size of the Queensland Art Gallery, Brisbane and increased as a world city.

Environmentally friendly, generous roof lost about 90% of the questions with which the gallery by shading the walls at critical times of the day. The gallery is on modern and contemporary Australian and international art of indigenous Australian art and the art of the Asia-Pacific focus.
